AI Transparency

Last updated: July 19, 2026

This is a starting draft and will be reviewed and finalized with legal counsel. It does not constitute legal advice.

How AI is used

AreaKoko's editorial team uses AI tools to help with research, first-draft generation, rewriting and tightening existing drafts, headline options, and SEO/social copy suggestions. AI is a drafting and research assistant β€” it does not decide what gets published, and it does not publish anything on its own.

Human oversight

Every AI-assisted draft is saved as a draft, not published automatically. A human editor reviews, fact-checks, and edits the content before it can go live β€” publishing requires an editor to explicitly approve it. Articles flagged as sensitive require an additional confirmation step before an editor can publish them, on top of the normal review.

Quality controls

AI-generated research is asked to assess and disclose the credibility of the sources it draws on, so editors can weigh a claim's reliability rather than trusting it blindly. AI drafts are also reviewed against our newsroom's editorial standards before publication β€” see our About page and Disclaimer for more on our accuracy commitments.
